Frequently Asked Questions
How old do you have to be to get services?
Sheer Artistry Beauty's policy is to require guests to be at least 16 years of age and older and to have parental consent for services.
How long should my hair be to get waxing service?
For waxing, hair needs enough length for the wax to grip. Straight to the point:
Minimum Length
-
¼ inch (about the length of a grain of rice)
-
This usually means 10–14 days of growth after shaving.
Ideal Length
-
¼ to ½ inch gives the cleanest pull and the least irritation.
If It’s Too Short
-
Wax won’t grip → patchy results, more pain, and wasted money.
If It’s Too Long
-
Over ¾ inch can cause:
-
Tugging
-
Breakage instead of clean removal
-
More discomfort
(Your esthetician can trim it, but better to have it in range.)
-
Can I get waxed on my period?
Yes, you can get waxed on your period — nothing in the law of nature or common-sense hygiene forbids it — but expect it to be more sensitive.
Here’s the straight truth:
✔ You can get waxed
Spas do it all the time. It’s normal, and trained estheticians are used to it.
⚠ But be prepared for these realities
-
Higher pain sensitivity: During your period, your nerves are sharper. A Brazilian or bikini wax may sting more.
-
Higher chance of spotting: Light bleeding can happen because the skin is more reactive.
-
You must wear a tampon or menstrual cup during the service for hygiene.
-
Let the esthetician know discreetly so they can prep properly.
Can I get waxed while I am pregnant?
First, congratulations! Secondly, yes, you can still get services. However, you may experience more skin sensitivity due to the hormonal changes your body's going through. Always check with your doctor first as a precaution.
Can I still get services on medications?
It's always best to refer to your doctor if you have any questions.
For prescribed creams like Retin-A or Differin, we advise that you stop use 7 days prior to your wax reservation and to not resume use until 7 days after your services.
Note: We will not perform services for you if you're on Accutane. It's very dangerous while on Accutane and a doctor's note will be needed to receive services.
Remember: it's important that you inform or update our Guest Service Coordinators about the medications you're taking so we can provide you with a safe experience.
